Starting a skin journey! Part 1

Hey all! I wanted to share my goals and progress in my skin journey with DermSkin! With my 26th birthday only a month away, and my wedding at the end of the year my skin has definitely become more of a priority to me.

I have always struggled with acne and unevenness in my skin. Since having my son my skin has been so reactive, acne prone and my scarring seems more obvious. With DermSkin skin specialists I have made a plan to get my skin under control and increase my confidence in my skin.

First up is a new skin routine from DermSkin ZO products.

My goals are: Smoother, Brighter and more even skin. Decrease in fine lines and pigmentation caused by years of working in the sun with no SPF 🫣.

Here is a before photo with two types of lighting to get a good idea of my skin currently.

Week 1 is primarily focused on starting a new skin routine, with week 2 moving into treatments. The plan is to start with some mild peels and skin needling. I will be regularly updating on my progress and experience with the treatments for anyone that was looking to try the treatments themself.

If you have any questions about the skincare, needling, peels or DermSkin clinic definitely leave them in the comments and I’ll answer them when I update on my progress. 🥰 DermSkin is located in Brisbane for anyone looking to get anything from skin needling to cosmetic injectables!

Boho Beauty the Skincare -Review and Haul 💕

With the skincare market so saturated, how do you know which products are worth investing in? Do you only pick the brands you know, try local brands, or do you rely on word of mouth?

For me, I love trying new products, especially if people I know or trust have recommended them. I also try to shop local as much as I can. Since having my little one my skin has changed quite a lot, my skin used to be extremely oily and acne prone, now I still get acne but my skin is more on the dry-combination side so I’ve had to make changes to the type of products I use.

To manage my skin I still use a corrective serum to calm and prevent breakouts, but have now had to add more hydration to my skin. I used to only use gel or matte moisturiser but now have been using a more hydrating cream. The Boho Beauty Skincare have a Hydrating moisturiser I am loving with Aloe, Glycerine, Johoba Oil, Rose hip oil and Avocado Oil to regulate oil production and keep skin healthy.

As someone with acne prone skin most of my life I have quite a bit of acne scarring and since having my little one I have developed pigmentation on my face as well. To target this I have incorporated Retinol and Vitamin C.

When using Retinol and Vitamin C, it is important not to use at the same time. Retinol is to be used at night and vitamin C in the day. These two actives also make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so SPF should also be added to your routine if it isn’t already.

Why use Vitamin C?

There are plenty of benefits to using vitamin C on your skin. They include:

  • safe for most skin types
  • hydration
  • brightening
  • reduce redness
  • reduce hyperpigmentation
  • reduces the appearance of under-eye circles
  • promotes collagen production
  • may help prevent sagging
  • may protect against sun damage
  • may soothe sunburns
  • may help wound healing

Why Use Retinol?

Applying vitamin A topically in the form of retinol can include the following benefits: Prevent wrinkles due to its minimizing effect, as well as smooth out existing fine lines and wrinkles. Brighten dull skin by exfoliating at a cellular level, which results in brighter and smoother new skin. Regulate oily skin and minimize breakouts and even Fade dark age spots, sun spots and hyperpigmentation and even out complexion over time.

Esmi Skincare; Review and Tips for using them!

Hey Guys,

Welcome back to my Blog, I have been trying to be more active with my Blog Posts, so I hope you guys are liking them. Let me know what you want to see more of. I am also hoping to start Youtube again so let me know if there is any videos you want to see.

Todays review is of the Esmi Skincare skin treats!

I tried out the Exfoliating Charcoal Serum, Brightening Serum and the Anti Redness serum as well. The charcoal one came with a buffing brush as well.

Reviews;

Overall;

They work well under makeup, leave the skin feeling fresh and give instant visual results on the skin.

For the charcoal serum you have to use the buffing brush otherwise you will have a dark tint on the skin. I noticed my skin did purge a bit after the first week of using it. Then it settled down and my skin was left soft and clear. The anti redness serum is a minty serum and left my skin feeling cool and fresh under my makeup too. The brightening serum was fresh and worked great under my eyes to brighten my dark circles.

The Anti redness was probably my favourite serum, it gave the most visual results and left my skin feeling amazing.

My least favourite would be the charcoal, mainly because it really had to be buffed into the skin if you weren’t wearing makeup otherwise it kind of looked like muddy fake tan.

What I rate Them;

Charcoal; 9/10

Brightening; 8/10

Anti Redness: 9/10

Here is their link if you want to check them out; they also have other skincare and makeup.

My Ry.com.au haul! Unboxing And review!

Hey guys welcome back to my page,

This post will be talking about both the Skinstitut  products I have recently tried as well as my experience with Ry.com.au and their service.

I have shopped with ry.com.au quite a few times, they have a massive variety of products from makeup to skincare to haircare and wellness products; they also recently opened an area for makeup artists to shop for pro products.

Here is the link to Ry;

Ry.com.au
They are always having different promotions and sales, they have afterpay (do I really need to say more!), they do free shipping over $99 and they price match 👌🏻

They stock over 250 brands including so many of my favourites!

So for the products themself I got four products from skinstitut

– moisture defence for normal skin

– the hydrating mask

– multi active oil

– multi active mist

They are all amazing products; on ry I will leave there pricing below. As well they currently have 33% off skinstitut so make sure you take advantage of that;

All four are priced;

Normally $45

Currently $30.15

My favourite out of them all is the multi active mist it is so good for cooling your face in the summer as well as refreshing you, it’s great as a priming spray for your face as well as after makeup to help set it.

The hydrating mask has also been perfect getting my skin back into shape after the winters damage and also to prep my skin for the warmer weather to come. I have combination skin and the weather recently has set it off like crazy, I am like a scaly lizard so I’ve been using this twice a week to help bring the moisture back into my skin!

Do you have any favourite skinstitut products to try?

and have you shopped with ry before?

If you have let me know how your shop went!

Also let me know what you want me to post about next!?!

Makeup Tips and Tricks to up your Slay Game!

Hey Guys, welcome back to my blog! Todays post is going to consist of a list of tips you can use to help up your makeup game and give yourself a flawless base.

18579477_1928682754039118_8865708253028286464_n

Base tips:

  • For a flawless base mix one part primer to three parts foundation, remember this will lower the coverage but smooth out your skin more.
  • Make sure to moisturise and Prime before you put on your foundation, so your skin doesn’t such all the moisture out of the foundation.
  • Always make sure you have done all the cream products before you set your face with a powder, otherwise the foundation will cake.
  • Remember less is more, if you are using a high coverage foundation don’t use concealer if you don’t need to, to avoid caking.
  • Remember to use products suited for your skin type

Eye Tips:

  • Use tape when you want your eyeshadow to be sharp and clean
  • Remember like your face, your eyes need to be primed as well, you can do this with an eyeshadow primer or even works if you conceal and set. This will also make eyeshadow more pigmented on your skin.
  • Remember to layer eyeshadow, start with small amounts. This will help with blending it out. If you aren’t very confident with eyeliner, try black eyeshadow. It is easier to clean up and also easier to manoeuvre.

Lips Tips:

  • Always line your lips and then blend, it helps get your lipstick to last longer
  • Like everything, always prime your lips; this can be done with a scrub or even just coconut oil and a tissue.
  • Don’t be afraid to add pigments to your lips to add some excitement to your lip colour or even some highlight.

Skin Tips:

  • Sheet masks are quick and easy forms of masks; my favourite skincare tip is to leave the sheet mask on overnight, it will allow the mask to properly soak into the skin.
  • Moisturise morning and night even if its just a light moisturiser
  • It is good to exfoliate the skin once a week, this helps remove any dead skin cells
  • Always clean your makeup off, then cleanse your skin. Removing your makeup doesn’t always clean all your makeup off.

Clarins Multi active Day and Night Cream. Is this a must have?

I am forever searching for the perfect day and night creams. As a beauty blogger I have tried tonnes, but only ever found a few I would truely recommend. I have been trying out three products from Clarins over the last few weeks including the new multi active Day cream, Multi Active day lotion and Multi Active Night cream.

The first thing I noticed with these creams is how a small amount of cream goes a long way, so keep this in mind if you have these creams or plan on getting them. I find all good quality creams have this, and I believe it is really important in a cream, especially an expensive one. So these creams are quite pricey, the day cream and lotion are $62AUD each and the night cream is $68. All three products have a sort of spicy floral smell (sorry I am terrible at describing smells) as I said before as well, go a long way and they absorb really well as well. I dont find they leave too much of an oily finish, the night cream is a bit oilier then the day cream, which is pretty common.

One thing I really love about this cream is the radiance it gives my skin while using it. Even after a few days of use, I found my skin looked less pale and sickly when I woke up and more bright and fresh.

Overall, I really think these creams are worth the buy, honestly I dont think you need both the day cream and the lotion, the lotion has a less oily feel so if thats something you prefer then the lotion is the better option for you. There is a few options for the day cream you can get an all skin types lotion and cream, combination gel and dry cream. The night has one for combination and dry skin which I think is a great idea for more brands to do as well.

Has anyone tried this cream before? What did you think?

As well guys how much do you normally spend on skincare items, do you want some budget buy ideas for skincare?
